Cardinalis

from $139.00

Taylor Wilkes made this photograph at a birding ranch in southern Texas during a bird photography workshop. Each day the guides dropped the photographers off in photo blinds, where they spent hours waiting quietly as birds came and went. This male northern cardinal stepped onto a slender branch, framed by feathery green leaves, his brilliant red plumage, black mask and orange beak glowing against the soft, shaded background.

The title comes from the bird's scientific name, Cardinalis cardinalis. Cardinals don't migrate, so their bright red is a welcome sight all year long, and they're one of the most beloved backyard birds in America.

Available on metal, canvas or fine art paper, in sizes from 12" x 18" up to 40" x 60". Canvas and fine art paper prints are made right here in our Wichita, Kansas store. Metal prints are produced by our partner lab, which we believe is the best metal print lab in America, for vivid color and a sleek, modern finish that's a good fit for offices, restaurants and other commercial spaces.

Want to share it? Cardinalis is also available as a 5" x 7" art card, blank inside for your own message.
